hello, i am going to vegas and want to play poker in casino for the first time. Can u pls help me with few questions.

1. Are there two kinds of games? like regular game and tournament? Which one should i do ? I am kinda new to poker itself..

2. What is "buy in" for table? Do i need to pay money in advance for both tournament and "non tournament" games? How much will it cost me? is it one time fee? per hour fee ? per game fee??

3. Once i get to the poker room, what do i do? Do i tell them if i want tournament or "non tournament". What are the right terms? LOL. Should i wait to be called for seat?

4. if there are "tournament" and "non tournament" games. Whats the difference? how many games in tournament? how does it go?? when can i walk out with remaining chips for each of games? can i just after a game is over or do i need to play certain number of games?

5. How does casino make money?? is there also fee per hour of pay or something? How does this work?

6. Last question.. during the gameplay. Do i need to make hand gestures or speak out loud when i "bet", "call", "fold", "check" and "raise"? what is the right way/ etiquette for each of above ?

Can someone be very patient with me please and answer all 6 questions in detail.. more like pls explain me "first time poker in casino 101". I really really really appreciate your help. thanks a lotttttttttt.

There are different kinds of games. I play Hold ‘Em. For your first time, if you play Hold ‘Em, it would be a good idea to find a limit table. That does give the heavy hitters a way to muscle you out by calling "All in" when they have a pile of chips and you have a handful. Depending on the blinds, you have a limit of what you can bet. I played 2/4 mostly. Means the little blind is 2 and the big blind is 4, so it basically costs you four chips to stay in. Then the first time you bet, you have to bet 4 chips. After the fourth card is laid down, the least amount you can bet is 8. If it is raised, it will be raised by four chips until someone calls.

If the room is busy, you’ll have to be called. Since it is your first time at the poker table, play at one of the casinos on the strip. I played Planet Hollywood. It was great and relaxed. If you wanna play casino games like slots or video poker, go to the off strip places like Red Rock Casino. Those are good for those games, but the locals get there every day for poker and they know how to play hard. They all know each other and know their styles. Playing at a table on the strip usually means they are travelers like yourself and just there to have fun.

Give your money where you sign in at. You can buy in once your at the table if you loose all your money, just give a 20 or so to the dealer and they will give you the chips right there. You can cash out whenever (except tournament play, I don’t think you can there).

The casino or "the House" gets a cut of every poker pot. That’s one way they make money off of poker. The dealer will sort that out as they deal and you’ll never notice. But if they set some chips back, thats what they are doing. You can call your bets outloud or hand gestures, it doesn’t matter. Pay attention to the play and it won’t take long for you to fall into the rhythm. The dealers are also very helpful to tell you your options if you’re not paying attention.

If you win your hand, tip the dealer. The going rate is a dollar. So if you win, give them a chip from the pot. It’s just common etiquette. That’s how it is for everything in Vegas nearly. If you’re on the casino and order a drink from the waitresses walking around, just tip them a dollar.

Have fun! Let me know how it goes!
